July 2, 2023 Engineering and fabrication of 50-tonne sheerlegs

We managed the complete engineering and manufacture of six sheerlegs for Van Oord.

These 6-metre-tall constructions, capable of lifting up to 50 tonnes, are part of the Stingray pipe-lay barge.

Van Oord lays its pipe by sliding the pipe into the water via the back of the barge. In bad weather, the piping is temporarily cut off. The sheerlegs lowers the piping to the bottom and back up afterwards. The sheerlegs can also be used for repairs.
